Graeae, Britain's leading disabled-led theatre company require an accessible space, where artists can undertake training and professional development, rehearse and network. Designed in discussion with Graeae's artistic team, associate artists and disabled artist focus groups, the project centres on access for disabled people and Artillery has incorporated a number of creative design features within the scheme.

The entire project has been informed by Graeae's unique approach to creative access: from tactile flooring to sensitive heating systems, acoustics and scented trees to adaptable work services and bright stylish WCs. The space has an urban, yet off beat, feel and is a world away from the institutional buildings often associated with disabled people.

Awarded £1.78 million by Arts Council England through the Lottery Programme to develop the workspace, Graeae hope to be established in the new space by the end of the year.

The project has won the "Best Project up to 2000m2" at the prestigious British Council for Offices (BCO) National awards. The awards recognise companies who have achieved excellance in office space.  Artillery were rewarded for a highly responsive approach to the unique criteria set out by Graeae.
