Leading insurance company Catlin appointed Artillery to design its new Global headquarters in London21 January 2011

Following the completion of a successful feasibility study on 20 Gracechurch Street, leading insurance company Catlin appointed Artillery to design its new Global headquarters in London.

The space is in close proximity to Lloyd's and lends itself to a strong market presence whilst providing a unique and purpose built underwriting floor.  The new office, which will be home to over 900 Catlin staff, will be designed in support of Catlin's global identity.

Catlin's statement red line will appear throughout the new space - moving from the reception area where it is represented as a single red handrail on the escalator, continuing throughout the building in varying modes and manifestations.

The design for the 125,000 sq ft space will include no less than seven reception areas, a broker's cafe and servery catering for 200 people, as well as kitchenette facilities on every floor to serve the meeting rooms.

In terms of sustainability, clear priorities have been set and benchmarked in order to provide green solutions to technology, resourcing, supplier and workforce requirements.  The design of Catlin's office has to reach both BREEAM and LEED standards using ethically sourced and environmentally friendly materials.  The building will also incorporate an energy, water and waste minimisation programme.

The project is due to complete in March.
