Artillery celebrate winning the "Best Project up to 2,000 sq m at the British Council for Offices (BCO) National Awards22 October 2010
Artillery Architecture and Interior Design celebrated winning the "Best Project up to 2,000 sq m" at the British Council for Offices (BCO) National Awards flagship event on 5 October 2010.
The BCO awards recognise companies who have achieved excellence in office space. Artillery were rewarded for their wholly responsive and spirited approach to the unique criteria set out by their client, Graeae Theatre Company, a disabled-led theatre company based in London's East End.
For artists to rehearse, develop their skills and network with like-minded individuals, Artillery's sensitive conversion of a Grade II former North Metropolitan Tramways stable block has provided an assistive resource with state-of-the-art facilities.
Opened by Graeae Patron, the actor and director Richard Wilson, the Graeae Theatre project was awarded 2million GBP ($3.1 million) by Arts Council England through the Lottery Programme. The funding presented the theatre company with the opportunity of securing its first permanent home in its 30-year history. The Graeae project formed part of a broader regeneration scheme, which included the upgrade of local transport links and a 160 million GBP ($251 million) boost towards the redevelopment of the Dalston town centre.
Artillery Architecture and Interior Design was founded in 1987. The company offers a bespoke multi-faceted design service encompassing architecture, interior design, feasibility studies and project management. Artillery's revolutionary design solutions are inspired by a resolute environmental ethos which supports the creation of sustainable interiors.
Artillery opened an office in Melbourne in 2006 and in 2008 they won the Emerging Interior Design Practice award from the Design Institute of Australia. In 2009, Artillery opened an office in Abu Dhabi.
