Great Marlborough Street has been home for popular Ran Restaurant since 1987. When deciding to update their look, a complete refurbishment was preferable to a change of location. The refurbishment works were completed within 12 weeks whereby Artillery helped them achieve a space that was de-cluttered, devoid of the original 1980's design and embraced a more minimalist modern feel.

The pinnacle of the new design was uniting the front-of-the-house with the dining area forming a singular openplan space. All of the extraction and ventilation systems were removed and updated, the ceiling height was increased and new mood lighting installed. For an improved dining experience, burners were incorporated into the tables and extractors hung from above to remove excess steam while contributing to the new modern ambience. A Basalt floor was installed which complimented the new Alder timber bar and cabinets. Metal tubing was put in around the spiral staircase, duly serving as a safety precaution and to increase overall aesthetics.
