OMD occupied one and a half floors in an industrial style office building in Pyrmont. The ground floor area, focused on client receiving, was inflexible and cavernous. The work floor on Level 1 was stretched beyond capacity, with limited collaboration spaces and staff working in corridors.
In order to reduce the space pressure and to cater for future expansion, the balance of the ground floor was taken by OMD. Blocking and stacking scenarios (schematic plans) were explored to determine the best use of the additional space, and subsequent changes to the existing. The client receiving area was re-designed to create greater flexibility for diverse client and staff functions. Areas for creative collaboration were provided in the work areas, and existing workstation storage screens were removed. The entire workplace utilised the new and existing seamlessly resulting in greater connections between teams and better access to natural light.
The result is the appearance of a completely new workplace, achieved with a large amount of re-use whilst OMD was in occupation.
